Cultural Routes

The industrialization of the region and its status as summer vacation center of the Barcelona and Catalan bourgeois turned El Maresme into a territory rich in Modernist architecture, linked to the early work of the most important architects of that movement: Lluís Domènech i Montaner (Canet de Mar), Josep Puig i Cadafalch (Mataró and Argentona) and Antoni Gaudí (Mataró and Alella).

The routes offered by the municipalities are highlighted, without doubt, by the Modernist routes in Canet de Mar, Mataró and Argentona. But there are others.
